Rules for Judging

Ground Rules for all entries:

  • There are 5 questions :
o @ Work Place – 2 (In One you are the manager and in another you are the Reportee)
o @ Home
o @ Friends Circle
o @ Party or Social Circle

• As a general rule trying to find a solution to any conflicting situation is a good answer. Accepting the situation is not suggested. Please think on those lines for the answers.

• However, if accepting the situation is the solution provided then the explanation provided there must be a strong reason for doing so and must justify the answer provided.

Guidelines for selecting the entries:

• Each entry has 5 answers. All the 5 answers need to be entered and an explanation that details the answer should justify the answer.
• There are NO RIGHT or WRONG Answers.
• Since this is a situational contest – please try and vote for the entry where ALL the answers are CLOSEST to what YOU would do.
• Avoid extremes of the spectrum – Sarcastic solutions or Preachy solutions – they are bad choices and will either end up hurting you or the other party in the process.

LITMUS TEST for the Solutions:

o The solution and the Explanation justifying the solution

o The thought process behind the suggested solutions

o Does the solution salvage the situation effectively in the shortest time possible (if it takes months and years then it might not be helpful)

NOTE: There are 13 entries –but you can VOTE ONLY FOR 1 ENTRY. That 1 should be closest to what you think is the right thing to do in all the 5 situations. If there is a tie in your mind, then take the questions that are most inappropriate and check how different they are from what you think is appropriate. Measure the gap and then vote.

ALL THE BEST – WHILE YOU VOTE and LEARN in the PROCESS !!

Rules given to Contestants

Rules for Entries

  • There are 5 questions :

o @ Work Place – 2 (In One you are the manager and in another you are the Reportee)

o @ Home

o @ Friends Circle

o @ Party or Social Circle

  • Answering all the questions is mandatory, since each question targets one sphere of our life.
  • Leaving any 1 question unanswered will disqualify the entry.
  • As a general rule trying to find a solution to any conflicting situation is a good answer. Accepting the situation is not suggested. Please think on those lines for the answers.
  • However, if you feel strongly that accepting the situation is the best way then there must be a strong reason for doing so and explain the same in the answer.
  • Any answer given must be explained appropriately to enable judging. But NO ANSWER must exceed 10 -12 Lines.
  • Each Question has space for answering. Take this document and Type in the answer in the space provided. That will satisfy the line limit.
  • Do NOT give answers exceeding space provided.

Judging Mechanism

  • All entries must be sent in by 18 June 2010 12 Midnight PST to qualify.
  • All the entries will be checked to see if they qualify (all 5 Q’s answered, explanations provided, adequate reasoning given and so on). Qualifying entries will enter the Prelims.
  • All Prelim entries will be filtered and top 12 or 15 FINAL entries will be identified.
  • The Prelims entries will be filtered based on
  1. The solution
  2. Explanation justifying the solution
  3. The thought process behind the suggested solutions
  • A POLL will be opened for the Final 15 entries.
  • There are no RIGHT or WRONG Answers for any of these situations.

NOTE: The qualification from Prelims to Finals will be done by the Organizers and their decision will be final and binding.

The RULES for the Final POLL (OPEN Judging) will be different and will be published along with the Blog.
